What Is Master Academy?
The Master Academy is our premier group at Musical Mayhem Productions, designed for the dedicated performer who is interested in Mastering their Craft.
Students will be instructed in Dance, Acting, and Voice by our skilled instructors in a supportive and fun learning environment. This class is for serious performers only. Attendance for this course is highly valued, and those who miss a large number of classes may be removed from the program.
Our students have been recognized nationally for their excellence, taking home awards from the Junior Theatre Festival in both Atlanta and Sacramento. Master Academy students have appeared in Music Circus productions, the California Musical Theatre Broadway Gala, iTheatrics Choreography DVDs (filmed in New York), iTheatrics Summer Academies workshoping new Jr Titles, and graduates are pursuing Theatre degrees across the country at some of the most respected institutions.
Students also receive national exposure by attending the Junior Theatre Festivals - performing for leading Broadway Professionals and executives including Freddie Gershon (Co-Chairman - MTI), Sir Cameron Mackintosh (Chairman - MTI), Drew Cohen (President - MTI), Tim McDonald (President - iTheatrics), Tom Schumacher (President - Disney Theatricals), Pasek and Paul (Composers - Dear Evan Hansen, La La Land, Greatest Showman), Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez (Composers - Frozen, CoCo), and many many more.
Students have also had the opportunity to perform on a Broadway Stage during a trip to New York City, and have a mock audition with special guests.
Master Academy students also receive Master Classes from industry Professionals. Previous Guests include Tony Award Winner Stephanie J Block (The Cher Show, Wicked, Falsettos, 9 to 5) Laura Bell Bundy (Original Elle Woods in Legally Blonde/Original Amber Von Tussle in Hairspray), Travis Patton (Frozen on Broadway), Jeremy Morse (Waitress - Broadway and National Tour), Ramone Owens (Beetlejuice, Motown - The Musical - Broadway) (Rodney Earl Jackson Jr (Motown, Book of Mormon - Broadway), Ixchel Cuellar (Mean Girls, Finding Neverland - Broadway), Madilyn Jazz Morrow (Matilda on Broadway) and Zell Steele Morrow (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child - Fun Home on Broadway)
Auditions will be held for this course. Students will be placed in appropriate levels. Not all who audition will be accepted into the Master Academy. If accepted, commitment by both the student and parent is required in writing for participation. A contract will be issued at time of placement and must be signed in person during a parent meeting with staff members.
Students will need to provide and bring their own dance shoes (jazz and optional character shoes), leotards, and pants to class. We do operate with a dress code, and those not adhering to it may be asked to sit out of class.
Each season of Master Academy runs July-May - an 11 month commitment.
We take one week of for Thanksgiving break, and two weeks off for Winter Holidays - there are no other days off, however conflicts are allowed with 2 weeks notice
