Do you have questions about our programs or how things work?  Check out our Frequently Asked Questions below!

Still have a question?

Email info@mmpkids.com

Question:

My child has no experience.  Can they still participate?

Answer:

Absolutely!  In all of our workshops we welcome all experience levels.  There are cast members who have done dozens of shows and worked professionally and others that have never stepped foot onstage.  Both are welcome and encouraged to attend!

Question:

Does everyone get a part?

Answer:

For all of our programs except Broadway Elite, all who register and audition are cast in the workshop.  While not everyone will receive a speaking role, everyone will be cast in an essential part of the show.  All cast members are on stage a lot and are vital to our shows success

Question:

My child isn't in Master Academy - does that mean they wont be considered for a leading role?

Answer:

Absolutely not.  Master Academy students do receive additional training, but when it comes to auditions for shows, every role is open to every auditioner.  Many times lead and supporting roles go to cast members who are brand new to MMP!

Question:

My child didn't get the part they wanted. Can you change it?

Answer:

No.  Our belief here at MMP is that every role is important.   You may not receive the role you had hoped, but that in no way means your audition was bad, or that we hate you.  Casting a show is like putting together a big giant puzzle and everyone has to fit in to make the picture (or show) complete.  If it is something different than you expected, make a list about how this role can challenge you and what you can add to your skill set by doing a great job.

Question:

What should my cast member wear to auditions?

Answer:  Snug fitting clothes are best.  Please no jeans or skirts without shorts underneath.  Black Jazz shoes are also required for all rehearsals.

Question:

Can I watch Auditions/Rehearsals?

Answer:

Unfortunately, no.  Rehearsals are a time for us to work with our cast and explore movements and words that might make us feel a little silly.  We make sure that it is a safe space - but with many eyes watching that they don't know - it can be intimidating.  You can always wait in our lobby, or in the parking lot where you can see directly into the rehearsal room

Question:

Where can I get Jazz Shoes?

Answer:

You can get jazz shoes a variety of ways.  Visit Discount Dance to see our reccomended shoes.  Use teacher code TP70063 to receive a discount

Question:

Do you double cast?

Answer:

We do not double cast.  We firmly believe that one cast creates a cohesive group that is all here to accomplish a singular goal - a great production.  Our belief is that double casting often results in a "better cast" and reinforces the idea that only leads are important and valued.  We see value in ALL roles and expect each cast member to work to their fullest potential in any role they are given.  Often the hardest work is done in the Ensemble.

Question:

Are there any other fees associated with doing a workshop?

Answer:

Other than the workshop fee and the Ticket Requirement (Broadway Junior, Bound and Stars programs only), there are no other fees.  We provide all costumes, with the exception of shoes and tights (if needed)

Question:

Why does it cost money to participate?

Answer:

Theatre is expensive to produce.  As an 501(c)3 Educational Non-Profit, all monies go directly back into our productions.  On average, our shows cost $30,000-$40,000 to produce.  Some costs that you may not be aware of include:  Performance Rights and Royalties, Theatre Facility Rental, Lighting Costs, Sound Costs, Rehearsal Studio lease, Costuming, Staff, Props, Set and many more.  We do offer scholarships and you can find out more information about that HERE

Question:

My Child is "Just Ensemble" - do they need to come to every performance?

Answer:

Absolutely!  Do not let your child fool you - there is no such thing as "Just Ensemble".  The ensemble is the heart and soul of any production.  Each member is vital to the success of a show - and even missing one person will impact the entire production.

Question:

I missed auditions for Master Academy.  Can I join late?

Answer:

Unfortunately no.  Auditions are held every June, and from those we create four cohesive levels.  We highly encourage you to audition Next June!
